Festivals & events
The Pottery Parlour has featured at a number of festivals both locally and further afield. The parlour is the perfect place to indulge in some rest and relaxation whilst letting your creative side come out to play.
Work can be hand- built, or you can have a go on a pottery wheel, where we centre the clay and then let you embark on your own experimental voyage of spinning clay. Sometimes we teach one to one with people who arrive with skills learned previously, or want to learn more, and sometimes we do demonstrations and gather ourselves a crowd! In this setting, it is simply wonderful to give so many people what is often their first experience of making pottery by hand on a potter’s wheel.
We provide all sorts of colourful and shiny bits and bobs to press into your finished work, all recycled from industry waste. In a festival environment a number of factors make it impossible to fire and return everything, but you can take your work away with you, and many people have gone on to fire and glaze their festival creations at pottery cafes all over the country.
Depending on the size of festival we can bring one or two manually powered or electric pottery wheels. We can operate from our own gazebo or our larger marquee, or in a communal space provided by the event.
Some festivals we have potted at include: Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts, The Big Green Gathering, Endorse it in Dorset, The Festival of Bryan, Dare 2 festival & Hackney Wicked.
