The Pottery Parlour aims to provide an inspiring and supportive environment within which the development of creative skills can be freely explored. Run by ceramicist Vanessa Conyers and various other helpers, the Parlour is next door to Vanessa’s own studio, and has seen many a fair face take its first tentative steps into the magical world of ceramics.

The studio is available for Parties and Workshops, or private tuition priced at £45 per hour. We do not currently hold weekly adult pottery classes but may do in the future, so if that appeals to you then get in touch and we will put you on the mailing list.

The Parlour is housed above Erika’s dress shop, looking onto West Street in the centre of Blandford Forum, Dorset. Once the home of Great Grandmother Conyers, the building was derelict for 20 years previous to the arrival of the pottery. The place began its new life in 2005 as a few dusty old rooms, home only to a family of pigeons & piles of assorted junk. Being somewhat rough around the edges the building has become the perfect home for a pair of clay splattered pottery studios.

After an enormous clear out, a paint job, and a spell as a painter’s studio, the Parlour now contains 3 electric pottery wheels & all the basics needed to create masterpieces in clay. The highlight of this new lease of life was the lighting of the open fire, which had gone unlit for 50 years and now keeps all the potters toasty when it’s cold outside!
